Wedding Tips For Brides The Wedding Timeline
We have 2 different topics to discuss regarding the wedding day timelines. One will be about the flow of the wedding day but we will leave that for next time. What we would like to discuss this week is the actual time that your going to need to do all that you want to during the wedding day and how that effects your vendors and venue.
If you are already involved in your planning you probably already know that many vendors work with time limits. If you are just starting the wedding planning then you may be surprised by vendors that either limit your time or have varying amounts of time in different packages. The venue typically has set times that you are allowed to be there. That typically includes time before the wedding to setup, the wedding, reception and a short time after to clean up. It can vary from one place to the next. Other vendors typically have limits for their time. Anything from the photographer, harpist or DJ usually has a set amount of time that is included in your contract with them. For this reason it is very important to consider your desired wedding timeline when you actually book some of these vendors.
One thing we have run across is that some brides see that the venue will allow them to be there for 5 hours. They in turn think that booking a photographer or videographer for that amount of time will work perfect. What they have not thought of is that the wedding will likely take place before that 5 hour time frame begins. Also, most brides like to have pictures of the dress and other details done before she gets dressed. In addition to that they like to have some images done of the actual getting dressed. All of this happens before the wedding begins. So you can begin to see where someone thinks that booking a vendor for 6 hours would be perfect when they actually need 8 hours to get the images they want.
The big issue in all of this is when you dont think about the actual amount of time that the wedding will need and you book a vendor for less time than will be needed to get all the images you want. We have worked with a couple of brides that had this happen either by mistake or on purpose. One of the ways that they worked around a time issue was to schedule all of their important things like the cake cutting and bouquet toss very early in the evening. This allowed the bride to get all the important details in her pictures before we left when the contracted time was up.
A question you might ask is how did this all work out? Check back in next week and we will go into more details about what happened and how it worked for the bride.
Until then, have a great time with your wedding planning!
Cheerfully,
Becca & Scott
